Royal Castle North Zealand
Full Day Tour (6 hours)
Description:
We leave Copenhagen for a day trip and go to the lovely region of North Zealand. Explore the beautiful Frederiksborg Castle, known as the Nordic Versailles – the castle is home to the Danish National History Museum and offers a fascinating look at Denmark’s vibrant history and fascinating people. Learn about the Kings and Queens of the past as we discover the lavishly furnished rooms, artifacts, and paintings, visiting the Chapel, Audience Chamber, Great Hall and more.
Enjoy a local café lunch in the town of Hillerød, before continuing to Fredensborg Palace for a photo stop at the country residence of Queen Margrethe II.
After a drive in the beautiful landscape of North Zealand we will arrive to the picturesque seaside town of Helsingør and visit Kronborg Castle outside, worldwide known as Hamlet and Shakespeare’s castle, one of Northern Europe’s finest Renaissance castles, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Shakespeare knew about it, but he almost certainly never set foot in Kronborg castle where some of the most extravagant parties of the 16th century were thrown. The castle is extremely well preserved. Back to Copenhagen we will be driving along the picturesque coastline and will be seeing Sweden on the other side of the sound, including many other sites on the way.
