Charming maritime village Dragør/Jewish Rescue
Half day tour (4 hours)
Description:
If you wish to gain insight into the country’s medieval past in Dragør on the island of Amager just a forty-minutes’ drive from Central Copenhagen, this is the tour for you. Today, Dragør is a charming seaside hamlet with winding cobbled streets and 17th-century brick houses with red tile roofs.
A walking tour of the unique heritage village of Dragør and we will stop for a visit with coffee and a Danish pastry at one of Dragør’s old inns. You will learn about the time when Dragør was an important fishing village to a sleeping beauty that was awakened, including its role in the incredible role of Jewish Danes during World War II.
We will also have a look into the “Goose Republic” – and hear about the long tradition in Dragør for raising geese – a tradition which has passed down from father to son.
Returning to Copenhagen, we drive through the new suburb of Ørestad with its state-of-the-art sustainable architecture and buildings by renowned architects.
